Southend's Children and Families Information PointSHIP Adults

Southend Outreach and related Base services

These are services that are available to Southend schools to provide advice and support. Including speech and language disorder or significant language delay, Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and behaviour difficulties.  They are provided by Southend Borough Council, either directly or commissioned to schools.

The links below explain what the services do, how they can be accessed, referral processes and key contacts.

Outcomes may relate to:

  • direct work with children and young people
  • work with staff in schools to develop an awareness of children and young people needs and how these can be supported or best met in a mainstream setting
  • correctly identifying children and young people (but avoiding any diagnoses)
  • training, advice and strategies
