Samo's Childminding

Welcome to Samo's Childminding - a home away from home for all children.

I have a large garden where children are able to explore, with loads of outdoor activities. I have a vegetable garden where children can plant their own vegetables, watch them grow, prepare them for a meal, and enjoy eating something they have made from scratch.

I have a large indoor play area where children are able to do arts and crafts, cutting, gluing, painting, play-dough, dress-up, drawing, reading, puzzles, singing, and dancing. We love to cook and bake, and children are able to help in the kitchen by mixing, adding, weighing, and decorating.

(Please note that the above is fully safeguarded and will only carried out with my supervision at all times).

I have a good understanding of the seven areas of learning: Learning & Development, Communication & Language, Physical Development, Understanding the World, Mathematics, Literacy, and Expressive Art & Design. The activities planned for each day will incorporate the various areas in a fun and exciting way.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for 0-4 year olds, and afterschool children will be provided with snacks. Dinner will be at an extra cost of £2.50.  All meals and snacks for children will be healthy and fun.

My Qualifications:

I have passed and completed the Level 3 Award in Preparing to work in home-based childcare. I am up to date with my paediatric first aid in 'recognising and responding to the emergency needs of children with chronic medical conditions, including Epilepsy, Asthma, and Diabetes'. I am also updated with 'Recognising and responding appropriately to meningitis and other serious, sudden illnesses.'

I am qualified in Food & Hygiene Safety Level 2, basic Behaviour Management, and Safeguarding Awareness.

A little about my experience:

I was born in South Africa and grew up on a farm. In 2008, I moved to London, and two years ago, I moved to Leigh on Sea with my sister Roxane, and Lex, our friendly black cat.

Before moving to the UK, I worked as a teacher for three years at Kidz Country Corner, looking after children aged 2-12 years old. After that, I had the wonderful opportunity of being a live-in Au Pair for a new-born baby girl and two teenage boys. When in London, I was fortunate to get a lovely live-out Au Pair position for two 10 month olds (one boy, and one girl). I feel that looking after children is a rewarding role; watching them learn, grow, and create their own personalities.

I am patient, friendly, and compassionate, which I believe are essential qualities when working with children. I enjoy the outdoors, baking, cooking, and being creative with whatever materials we have to hand.

All children are welcome. Please call to discuss if your child has any additional requirements.
