USP College

USP College is a Further Education college, conveniently located in Benfleet midway between Southend-on-Sea and Basildon. It offers the widest choice of A-Levels in South Essex and a huge complement of Professional qualifications, Apprenticeships; Higher Education and Adult courses.

Since 2010 the number of young people studying a Foundation Learning or Level 2 course with the College has tripled, with over 1,000 now enrolled.  USP has built a strong reputation as a leading college in South Essex for SEND and the delivery of courses preparing young people with and without learning difficulties for adulthood, to ultimately improve their life opportunities.

Having increased access to education for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, USP has placed itself at the heart of the community; ensuring local people have the ideal curriculum offer to get the best possible life chances.  Working very closely with local special and mainstream schools, they continue to listen to the needs of their learners to guarantee a smooth transition into, and throughout, college.  In addition to this, five local schools have day placements with the college to jointly support and develop the young people.

For students aged 16-24 with a Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA), Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP) or Statement of Special Needs, the college offers a specialist department with clear progression opportunities for those who would benefit in learning within a supported environment.  For many young people coming to USP College is their first big step towards adulthood from the smaller specialist schools and sixth forms they have studied at previously.  With programmes including the Supported Internship and Pathways, we offer a supportive and inspiring environment with Foundation Learning programmes, supporting them to meet their Preparation for Adulthood outcomes.
