Helped me get 6 GCSE's

By GJC on 26/10/2016

My parents first contacted Parent Partnership back in 2012 when I wasn't coping with work at school. I knew I had problems concentrating but I found it frustrating and upsetting that I couldn't keep up with the other children in my class. At first my school Senco said that it was normal and I was easily distracted but my parents didn't agree. So, they contacted Julie Davis and she agreed to come with them to a school meeting. (She came to more over the past few years too) She spoke to the Senco and suggested I was tested and they realised I did have learning difficulties and Julie Davis helped my parents request a statement of education which was changed to an EHC plan. This really helped me in class and gave me better opportunities to access support in classes and lead to me being allowed to take fewer GCSE's. I had extra time and a quiet place to take them and I achieved a 1A, 4C's and 1D and now I'm in college studying engineering. This would not have happened without the help from Julie Davis at Parent Partnership. (Now called IASS). My family and me will always be very grateful for the help this service gave to us.
