Welcome to Southend-on-Sea's Local offer  -  What is the Local Offer? The Local Offer is published as part of the SEND reforms under the Children and Families Act 2014 and will be developed and reviewed over time, with the involvement of young people, parents and service providers.  For more information click here

Upcoming Events:

  • Next Local Offer Forum Meeting:  Tuesday 18th July 2017, 10.30am– 12.30pm venue to be confirmed.  At this meeting we will be discussing the parent/carer conference on the 4th July and topics and dates for future meetings.   • Save the date  - We will be holding our next Preparing for Adulthood Group on 11th July 2017 at The Tickfield Centre, Tickfield Road, Southend on Sea.  Save the date – more details to follow.

  • IPSEA have put together a briefing for parents on Local Area SEND Inspections:  The Minister of State for Children and Families has asked that Ofsted and CQC inspect local areas' effectiveness in fulfilling their duties under the Children and Families Act 2014 (and the Regulations and Code of Practice made under this Act).  These started in May 2016.  To see the Briefing for Parents in full please click here

The Expert Parent Programme is a training programme for Parents of disabled children.

It has been developed to help you navigate the health system, understand your rights as a parent, and to provide useful guidance and advice on how to get the best for your child.

The Expert Parent Programme is a on-line training programme for parents of disabled children, the commitment is approximately 3-4 hours and has the following modules. 

  • Personal Health Budgets
  • Understanding the NHS Structure
  • Making a Complaint
  • Learning Disabilities and Behaviour that Challenges
  • National Deaf Children's Society
  • CAMHS and Other Mental Health Support Service
