SEND and the LOCAL OFFER

Welcome to Southend-on-Sea's Local offer website.

What is the Local Offer? The Local Offer is published as part of the SEND reforms under the Children and Families Act 2014 and will be developed and reviewed over time, with the involvement of young people, parents and service providers.

The Local Offer has two key purposes:

  • To provide clear, comprehensive, accessible and up-to-date information about the available provision and how to access it, and
  • To make provision more responsive to local needs and aspirations by directly involving disabled children and those with SEN and their parents, and disabled young people and those with SEN, and service providers in its development and review.

All information within the Local Offer is to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or a disability (SEND) and their families. The Local Offer and its sub sections contain what is known as targeted/specialist information.

Activities and services that any child may access (known as Universal services) and that your child may wish to attend with some support (speak to the provider) can be found in the main SHIP directory.
