This section has information about how to access support and challenge decisions made that relate to you or your child.If you need advice on the services that you are entitled to, or support to understand them, there are a number of services you can access such as the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice & Support Service. (SENDIASS)Sometimes you may be unhappy about the information you have been given or you may not agree with decisions made that relate to you or your child and you may wish to challenge it. This section has information primarily about resolving disagreements between parents or young people and early year's providers, schools, colleges, local authorities or health commissioners.  
  • Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service - A statutory service offering impartial support and advice to parents and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

 

  • Information on how to apply for a Blue Badge is displayed on Southend Borough Council Website  
  • IPSEA have put together a briefing for parents on Local Area SEND Inspections:  The Minister of State for Children and Families has asked that Ofsted and CQC inspect local areas' effectiveness in fulfilling their duties under the Children and Families Act 2014 (and the Regulations and Code of Practice made under this Act).  These started in May 2016.  To see the Briefing for Parents in full please click here
