Home care and Home Care Agencies

Home Care Agencies provide trained care workers and nurses to come to your home and help you with daily tasks, allowing you to be more independent at home. There are many services that home care offers; whether you have found you are struggling with your personal care, or you've come out of hospital and need support taking medication, or to prepare your meals after a fall.

Home care agencies offer carers, or home care assistants, and sometimes registered nurses, to visit you at home and provide care and support on a daily, weekly, or intermittent basis.

Home care assistants can help with: Shopping, laundry, daily chores, personal care - including helping you go to the toilet, dress and manage incontinence - preparing your meals, taking medication, and treating long-term health problems (with support from a trained nurse), and support you to go out into the community and maintain social relationships.

The cost of home care varies depending on the type of support you need. There are agencies dedicated to support those with dementia or a learning disability, for example, and they will be specially trained to provide care for you. How many visits you have from a care worker will depend on your support needs or how much you can afford to pay, but there are many options for weekly, daily, or 24 hour care, depending on your needs.

Adult social care services are for people aged over 18 who need help and support. We aim to keep you as independent as possible with a good quality of life. We will ask you for information about yourself and speak to others who are involved in supporting you. Together, we will look at the things you can manage and the help you get already, before considering what support you might need.

You can ask for help by either calling us on 01702 215008 (option 1), or completing a self-assessment online.

If you need palliative care, you may be able to get free care through NHS Continuing Healthcare.
